What are handtied hair extensions?

Hand tied hair extensions refer to the type of weft that is sewn into the hair. The hair on these wefts are placed strand by strand, by hand, onto a string and tied off on the end. They are very light weight and can be stacked on a beaded row to create more density. They can be mixed with multiple different colors of wefts in order to create a customized color unique only to you.

What are beaded rows?

Beaded rows are the attachment site that the hair wefts are sewn onto. Aluminum beads lined with silicone are placed on small sections of hair and then compressed so they stay in the hair. The wefts of hair are then sewn onto this row of beads with thread.

What is a "reinstall,” and when do I get one?

The Invisible Bead Extension® method I use requires a fresh install every 7-10 weeks and can be done at your color appointment. As your hair grows out your extensions move further from your scalp and need to be moved back up closer to your scalp. The row of hair is completely removed and reinstalled with new beads and thread.

Can I swim with extensions?

Getting your extensions wet in pools, lakes, and oceans is done at your own discretion. You can view the care instructions for that here. It’s best to put your hair up in a claw clip and try not to get it wet when entering the water.

Can anyone get hair extensions?

If you have good density for beaded row attachment then yes. If you have thinning or fragile hair on your scalp there are alternative extension options that we can discuss. If you are taking any autoimmune medications, hair extensions are not advisable.

How long does the hair last?

Your extension hair can last up to 6-12 months with great at home maintenance.

Can you get extensions while pregnant?

Yes, you can wear extensions while you’re pregnant.

Can you get extensions with short hair?

It is possible to wear extensions if your hair is at least about shoulder length. Anything shorter than that would not blend well.

Can you get extensions with long hair?

Yes, you could wear them to add a few more inches just to add fullness.

Can I still wear a ponytail?

Yes, it is safe to wear a high ponytail. A low ponytail or claw clips can always be worn.

Why should I get extensions?

If you have thin hair that does not grow and you have to curl them everyday for more volume, and you struggle everyday to figure out how to style them so that they look great, extensions can make your life a lot easier. You will be able to wash less, your curls hold for longer, and you have more styling options.  They can help your hair grow because they become a barrier and you use less heat, hair color, and elastics. You will get instant gratification of long or thick hair, and you can add dimension with extensions instead of using chemicals on your own hair. They can be used to add the volume back into your hair after postpartum hair loss, or for a luxurious wedding day look.

When should I get my hair extensions installed before my wedding?

I would suggest scheduling your consultation 6-8 weeks before your wedding. If you're having your hair colored by someone else, it’s best to have that done before your consultation so that we can match your extension color correctly. The installation date can be scheduled 2-4 weeks before your hair trial or wedding.

Why did my extensions turn orange?

Your extensions will turn orange if you use chemical sunscreen. While wearing extensions only use mineral sunscreen. The active ingredients will be, “zinc oxide” and/or “titanium dioxide.”

Why did my extensions get matted?

Hair extensions will matte if you go to bed while they’re still wet, and if you don’t brush them well throughout the day. They tangle easier if they are not kept soft and hydrated so be sure to use a moisturizing shampoo and conditioner along with a leave-in conditioner, a mask once a week, oil, and heat protectant.

How much do extensions cost?

The initial install cost can range anywhere between $1,000 - $3,000 depending on the look you want to achieve. Factors that play into the cost are the length, volume, and color customization.
